Description:

The ILEARN performance task asks students to perform problem-solving and critical thinking in a new and unique situation. The ILEARN is the first standardized assessment our students have been required to take that ask them to do this type of thinking. Are we addressing this level of thinking in the classroom?

Agenda:

  1. Explore John Hattie’s model and structure of math tasks with his surface, deep and transfer learning.
  2. Examine specific strategies and actions that teachers can use in the classroom encourage students to have the stamina and motivation to do the performance tasks.
  3. Discover instructional moves you can implement in your classroom tomorrow with little effort.

Event Cancellation Policy

NIESC Cancellation Policy

Registrants who notify NIESC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.

  • Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but one week before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop, will pay 50% of the registration fee.
  • Registrants who neglect to call or notify NIESC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full registration fee.
  • On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees
