Description:

Adam McMickle, Social Studies Specialist with IDOE, will lead a discussion around the newly created Civics standards and updated 7th and 8th grade social studies standards to assist schools in planning for implementation for the 2023-24 school year. Topics will include development of the standards, reasoning behind mandating the Civics course in the second semester of the 6th grade year, and the subsequent changes to the current 6-8 social studies standards. This session geared for school leaders will assist in your planning for implementation.

NOTE: Full-day sessions geared toward instructors and focused on curriculum planning and alignment will be scheduled for spring 2023.

NIESC Cancellation Policy

Registrants who notify NIESC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.

  • Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but one week before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop, will pay 50% of the registration fee.
  • Registrants who neglect to call or notify NIESC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full registration fee.
  • On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees
