IDOE: STEM & HA June In-Person Professional Development
High Ability
Join the Indiana Department of Education Student Pathway High Ability division for a hands-on, interactive day examining the craft of differentiation in the Humanities domains in the morning and STEM domains in the afternoon. Each of the five dimensions of differentiation will be explored in depth through a cross-disciplinary approach to instruction that can be implemented in the K-12 classroom. During each session, participants will receive instructional tools and practices that will provide rich learning experiences that are rigorous and appropriately challenging in order for students to thrive. Participants will leave with templates, examples, and easily implemented pedagogical practices to ensure high ability students continue being challenged at all levels of learning.
STEM
Join members of the Indiana Department of Education’s (IDOE’s) STEM Team, along with schools that have recently experienced the STEM School Certification process for an in-depth look at STEM integration and STEM Certification. During the morning session, IDOE will provide an overview of the STEM Certification process and recently revised rubric and schools will share their certification journey. In the afternoon, school teams will be provided the opportunity to network with other schools and work on their school-wide STEM goals and associated plans. K-8 schools interested in learning about STEM education, furthering STEM in their schools, or pursuing STEM School Certification are encouraged to attend. Participants will leave with robust knowledge of the STEM Certification process, connections to other schools with STEM interests, and ideas to further STEM education in their schools. *Note: This is a K-8 event only. Additional opportunities focused on high schools and career centers will be held at a later time.
