RADON & ASBESTOS-Meeting the state requirements

This 2 hour workshop meets the state requirements and covers the basics on radon, including:
Radon, health effects, radon in media, where radon is found, how radon enters buildings, what happens after radon enters buildings, radon regulations, testing for radon, data interpretation, managing radon in buildings, sources of information


This session will meet the 2 hour AHERA training requirements for Asbestos Awareness. Certifications will be given upon completion of this course.

Our presenter is Kent Shadley, CHMM

Kent is Vice President, Field Services at Alliance Environmental Group. Kent is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, licensed asbestos inspector, licensed asbestos management planner, a certified lead renovator and a licensed radon measurement provider. He has over 30 years of experience in the environmental field.

11:00-11:45* AM: Lunch Break (NIESC will provide lunch for in-person attendees)
11:45 AM-1:45* PM: Asbestos Refresher

Directors of Buildings and Grounds, Head Custodians, Building Custodians, IAQ Coordinators, Building Administrators, and others interested


Event Cancellation Policy

NIESC Cancellation Policy

Registrants who notify NIESC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.

  • Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but one week before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop, will pay 50% of the registration fee.
  • Registrants who neglect to call or notify NIESC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full registration fee.
  • On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees
