Description:

The Environmental Education Association of Indiana and the Outdoor Learning School & Store will host an all-day professional development event on Monday, September 16th to provide educators, administrators and support staff with an in-depth look at the benefits of incorporating outdoor education into their students’ learning experience.  Topics to be covered include:

-Tools and strategies for effective outdoor learning engagement

-Helping educators feel confident in presenting outdoor learning materials and managing their students in an outdoor setting

-Helping educators adapt outdoor learning activities to any schoolyard environment

-Locating curriculum resources, outdoor learning tools, and support

-EEAI’s Environmental Literacy Guidelines

-The data-supported benefits of outdoor education

-How outdoor education can support standards-aligned learning in ANY subject

-A guided outdoor learning activity

Agenda:

8:00 – 8:30 Welcome

8:30 – 11:00 Statewide Virtual Learning, Resource Sharing, and In-Person Breakout Activities

11:00 – 11:45 – Lunch

11:45 – 1:15 – Guided Outdoor Education Activity

1:15 – 2:00 – Sharing and Comparing Outdoor Education Experiences

  • Anyone interested in incorporating outdoor and nature-based learning into their programming!

Special Instructions:

Participants should come prepared to spend time outdoors with appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather in their region on the day of the event.  Outdoor activities will proceed rain or shine, with the exception of hazardous weather events.

Event Cancellation Policy

NIESC Cancellation Policy

Registrants who notify NIESC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.

  • Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but one week before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop, will pay 50% of the registration fee.
  • Registrants who neglect to call or notify NIESC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full registration fee.
  • On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees
