As we enter the holiday season and break, make certain that you take the opportunity to enjoy your family and friends. The endless hours you dedicate to our youth is a true blessing and makes a lasting impact. YOUR IMPACT MAKES A DIFFERENCE! Remember to take care of yourself over the holidays as this is a time to rejuvenate your mind and body.

Keep doing great things for kids!

Cooperative Purchasing

School corporations can save time and money by utilizing the CIESC web-based bus purchasing program.  With this program, a district buying one bus gets the same price as a district ordering 20 buses.

Member Spotlight

Cathy Rowe
Superintendent

Cathy Rowe is the Superintendent at West Central School Corporation. She started there on July 1 of this year, coming from the superintendency at North Newton. This is her 9th year as a superintendent in Indiana. She has also been an elementary teacher, elementary principal, junior/senior high school principal, and the teacher/director of an alternative school program with each teaching her a key little snippet about truly 'seeing' kids K-12. These experiences have helped to shape her view of how being a superintendent can help all students be successful and a district can support not only students, but also teachers and the community.

We asked Cathy what she has been working on in the last year that would be recognized by her corporation. She shared, “This one is hard since I've only begun since July of this year. I have been truly humbled by the kindness and generosity of the West Central school community, school board members, and the local communities. I look forward to helping put West Central on the map when it comes to academic excellence.” Cathy also shared that there is a lot to be proud of at West Central and much work has already been done. Their teachers are caring and compassionate about helping students be successful. However, future goals include raising ELA and math proficiency scores, increasing the number of supports available to students to be able to access needed resources to level the playing field for each child, and continuing to raise the expectations for staff themselves and students.

There are many things that Cathy finds rewarding about her position. Some of the most rewarding aspects are working with teachers around curriculum and instruction, interacting with all staff members and students, and helping to rally everyone around a few key, critical goals and strategies. She does this through strategic planning.

In her spare time, Cathy likes to spend quality time with her grown children and two grandchildren. She also enjoys traveling and reading current non-fiction educational materials.
