Bill Reichhart just retired as Superintendent from Knox Community School Corporation. Bill taught middle school math and science for 20 years and then spent 21 years in administration roles. The last 13 years of his career were in a Superintendent position.
Before Bill's retirement, he was able to wrap up the building of the Knox Career Center. It was a part of their 25M building project. He is very proud that he was able to play a part in updating the facilities at Knox without raising any property taxes. The community actually embraced this project after previously rejecting it before he was at Knox.
When it comes to the future of KCSC, Bill wishes them nothing but the best. He thinks that they have a lot of positive momentum moving forward.
We asked Bill what he found most rewarding over his career and he shared, "Looking back, I am proud of helping students when I taught in the classroom. As superintendent, I am proud of the impact that I have had on students, staff, and the community. When I retired as superintendent, I was proud of the emails that said they appreciated my "open door" policy and that they could come into my office and tell me anything that was on their mind."
Bill has retired into his new lake home on Lake George which is by Angola, Indiana. He and his wife have 9 grandchildren and he will now be able to participate more in their activities. One thing he will not miss is having to get up early and call all the weather delays and cancellations!
Everyone here at NIESC wishes Bill all the best in his retirement!
