NIESC continues to partner with the Indiana Department of Education on various projects and grants including:

Literacy Cadre: We have partnered with the other Educational Service Centers and the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL) to address literacy in our schools in Indiana. We have a total of five (5) Trained Support Specialists (TSS) who work daily with instructional coaches and schools.

STEM Integration Grant: We are working collaboratively with the following members to implement STEM into teaching and learning: Concord Community Schools, New Prairie United School Corporation, River Forest Community Schools and Union Township School Corporation.

3E Grant: This grant was written in conjunction with the three school corporations in LaGrange County; Lakeland School Corporation, Prairie Heights Community Schools and Westview School Corporation to build partnerships with local businesses to increase work based learning opportunities for students. We hope to expand this vital work to other counties and schools. This article is about the program in LaGrange County.

I-STEM: The goal of the Educational Service Centers of Indiana is to increase the number of STEM-licensed teachers in Indiana.

Future-Focused Learning Series: A partnership between the Indiana Department of Education and the Educational Service Centers of Indiana. We will provide professional development opportunities to Indiana educators to assist in the understanding and implementation of the new Indiana Academic Standards.

Member Spotlight

Greg Mikulich
Superintendent

Greg Mikulich is the Superintendent at Knox Community Schools. He officially began with the corporation on August 1, 2023.

Since Greg has started at Knox, he and his team have been working on building a “Culture of Excellence” with every decision and interaction that they encounter. They want to create an environment where staff love to come to work and students are excited about school. One of the things that Greg finds most rewarding about his position is seeing staff happy and seeing students being successful in and out of school.

Greg’s future goal for the corporation is to see Knox Community Schools recognized as one of the top academic schools in the state.

We asked Greg what he likes to do in his spare time. He shared, “I have 3 boys and an amazing wife that I enjoy spending all my free time with. I also enjoy buying and fixing up full size arcade games. My basement is full of them!”
